Emma K. Doub (EKD) is a magnet school and attracts advanced learners from across the county. Approximately 100 of our students comprise our magnet program which spans grades 2-5.  EKD was recognized as an EGATE school in 2010 for demonstrating Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education from MSDE and has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School from 2013-2022.

Emma K Doub is a school focused on infusing instructional technology into the curriculum through teaching with engaging tools and resources.  Teachers provide opportunities for all students to learn and demonstrate understanding with tools such as 1:1 Chromebooks, digital photography, 3-D printing, etc.  A Computer Science curriculum is uniquely available to our Magnet students. In addition, our school utilizes an Integrated Arts program where Encore teachers (music, art, physical education, and media) work collaboratively with classroom teachers on developing integrated lessons that help our students learn content through the arts.

Students at EKD are given the resources they need in order to help them to be successful, whether they need intervention to close instructional gaps, enrichment opportunities, or challenges/support within the classroom.  Students work collaboratively with one another, even across grade levels, as they serve as reading buddies to older/younger students.

Staff are caring and committed to the success of our students.  Our PTA is supportive and engaged and we welcome our families to take on an active role within our school.
